The club was founded in August 2000, but with nowhere to sail in its home town, the Camborne Model Boat Club approached the then Kerrier District Council for permission to adopt Coronation Park Boating lake in Helston as its ‘home water’, this was granted in October 2000. Hence the Club’s better known name Camborne Pond Hoppers. Now with over 70 members it is the largest model boat club in Cornwall, it's members own all types of craft from sailing yachts to paddle steamers, the Pond Hoppers meet to sail every Sunday morning and Wednesday afternoon.  New members always welcome.
