The club was founded in August 2000, but with nowhere to sail in its home town, the Camborne Model Boat Club approached the then Kerrier District Council for permission to adopt Coronation Park Boating lake in Helston as its ‘home water’, this was granted in October 2000. Hence the Club’s better known name Camborne Pond Hoppers. Now with over 70 members it is the largest model boat club in Cornwall, it's members own all types of craft from sailing yachts to paddle steamers, the Pond Hoppers meet to sail every Sunday morning and Wednesday afternoon.  New members always welcome. News for 2026

Sunday 24th November  Camborne Pond Hoppers will be joining Helston Scale Model Group Link. This provides a solid setup, offering both an indoor display venue and outdoor water access. Fingers crossed for calm winds and clear skies so everyone can get their boats out on the water!

• Venue: The Old Cattle Market (Large Hall) & Coronation Park Boating Lake, Helston (TR13 0SR).
• Indoor Setup: Static model displays, tables, and club interactions inside the main hall.
• Outdoor Sailing: Radio-controlled model boat trials on the boating lake, weather permitting.
• Parking: Pay & Display parking is available at the Fairground Car Park or right adjacent to The Old Cattle Market.
